OLDHAM teenage snooker sensation Ryan Davies has created a huge stir on social media after nailing a dream 147 maximum clearance during a match in Whitefield.

Up against local player Imran Nisar, Newman pupil Davies, who is only 14, pounced on a poor safety shot before pocketing all 15 reds, 15 blacks and the colours to claim a stunning winning frame.

Footage of the break was captured on CCTV at the Savannah's Club and after being posted on Facebook, word has spread like wildfire.

Ryan's proud dad Martin said: "It's quite unbelievable really.

"Ryan has knocked in a 147 in practise, but this came in a match environment and the footage has been shared all over the place.

"Some professionals haven't registered a 147 break yet, while one or two professional players - including Anthony McGill - have commented on Ryan's achievement.

"There's people from down south, up in Scotland, in fact all over talking about it.

"It's certainly made an impact and will only go to build his reputation even more."

There have already been enquiries made about Ryan from potential agents and managers, with the young potting star looking to have a bright future in the sport.

Unfortunately, dad Martin wasn't at Savannah's to witness the break, but brother Aaron - himself an international pool player at the age of 19 - was.

Martin said: "Aaron told me Ryan was perfectly calm as the break progressed. That's just how he is.

"He doesn't talk to anyone while he's mid-break, but after he'd knocked the final black in he was very excited.

"Ryan went in to play a game at the Norman Snooker Centre in Rochdale on Sunday and he was the talk of the club.

"It's all really exciting for everyone."

Ryan is next in competitive action on the Premier Tour at the end of this month, then he switches attention to the finals of the EASB English 6 Reds Snooker Championship in May.

He has also reached the finals of the English under-16s Billiards Championships.

Brother Aaron, meanwhile, competes in the World Pool Championships in June.
