MANCHESTER United and England legend Paul Scholes watched an absolute cracker of a game as Chadderton won 5-4 at FC Oswestry Town in the Hallmark Security League First Division.
In attendance at The Venue to watch his son Aaron in action for Chaddy, Scholes saw the goals fly in.
Luke Heron and Matty Crothers handed the visitors an early two-goal advantage, before Daniel Tinsley struck to make it 2-1 at the interval.
Heron struck again, and Andy Bainbridge made it 4-1 to Chaddy, but another goal from Tinsley reduced Oswestry's arrears again.
Nathan Quinlan made it 5-2 to Chaddy in the 90th minute and that appeared to be 'game over'.
NERVY
However, Jack Harris struck for the hosts and Tinsley completed his hat-trick deep into stoppage-time to make it a nervy final few seconds for Chaddy.
They hung on, though, and the Macron Cup semi-finalists remain in ninth position in the table.
Chaddy are back in action tomorrow night when they host St Helens Town (7.45pm kick-off).
MOSSLEY slumped to a 3-0 home reverse against Colwyn Bay in the Evo-Stik League Division One North, but defeat elsewhere for Goole means the Lilywhites are now just one result away from sealing safety.
Another miserable day at Seel Park saw Jamie Rainford (two) and Will Booth on target for Colwyn Bay.
The Lilywhites are now eight points clear of second-bottom Goole with just three games to play.
They return to action at Kendal Town on Saturday, when they will hope to secure survival after an inconsistent 2016-17 campaign.
