CHADDERTON have one foot in the Hallmark Security League Macron Cup final after securing a brilliant 2-0 victory at City of Liverpool FC in the semi-final first leg last night.
Mark Howard's men were huge underdogs as they took on the First Division high-fliers on Merseyside, but returned back down the East Lancs Road with a dream result thanks to second-half goals from Andy Bainbridge and Matty Crothers (penalty).
It was a result which will have exceeded all expectations in the Chaddy camp, and it sets them up perfectly for the second leg tie, which takes place at the ARK Fleetech Stadium on Thursday, April 20.
In the other semi-final first leg tie between two Premier Division sides, Barnoldswick Town edged out Bootle 1-0 thanks to John Beckwith's 90th-minute strike.
TRIP
Chaddy return to First Division action tomorrow with a lengthy trip to FC Oswestry Town.
The Shropshire side are also in mid-table, five points behind Howard's Chaddy.
Both sides have seven matches left to play this season.
MOSSLEY could finally seal Evo-Stik League Division One North safety if they can beat Colwyn Bay at Seel Park tomorrow.
