THE talented team from Oldham Aquatics finished a successful Lancashire County Swimming Championships - held in Manchester - with two champions and a string of finalists on the final weekend.

Emelie Byrom won the 12 Years Womens' 50m Breaststroke final by more than a second and narrowly missed out on defending her 100m Breaststroke title by finishing second, just 0.15 seconds behind the champion.

The following day Jessica Calderbank won the 17 Years and over Womens' 50m Butterfly in a new personal-best time, beating her previous mark set in the heats.

"Our swimmers performed very well at this year's County Championships," said Head Coach Mark Lord.

Kate Leddy finished one place ahead of Burston in the 14years Womens' 50m Butterfly - in a personal best time - and also qualified for the finals of the 50m Backstroke and Freestyle.

Joel Birtles was Oldham's youngest finalist and finished sixth in the Mens' 10/11 Years 50m Freestyle, while Patrick Braddock came eighth in the Mens' 13 Years 100m Breaststroke final.
