Heffron set to realise his potential

OLDHAM'S unbeaten super-middleweight hopeful Mark Heffron returns to the ring on Friday, February 24.

Heffron (25) made a blistering return to ring action before Christmas, beating Attila Tibor Nagy and Michael Mora in quick succession after over 12 months of inactivity.

Next, 'Kid Dynamite' will take on tough-as-teak Welshman Nathan King on a Black Flash Promotions show at the Middleton Arena, where the Oldham ace will look to extend his unblemished professional record to 14 wins from 14 fights.

After a stop-start career chiefly thanks to problems out of the ring, Heffron now appears to be right back on track, and hopefully he will now go on to realise his undoubted huge potential.

Trained by Pat Barrett in Middleton, Heffron has also been courted by big-time promoter Frank Warren and will be looking to move on to bigger national bills providing he sees off King with no dramas.

His agent Paddy Coakley said: "Mark has come on in leaps and bounds recently.

"He has settled down with his girlfriend and has a baby on the way, which has changed him massively.

"Two years ago everyone told me he was on the road to nowhere and he wouldn't change. However, we stuck to the plan and I can't fault him.
