THREE defeats in their last four Evo-Stik League Division One North games means Mossley are nervously looking over their shoulders at the drop zone once again, writes SIMON SMEDLEY.

A disappointing home derby loss to Droylsden in midweek will be followed by a trip to fellow strugglers Ossett Albion tomorrow.

Another reverse could see the Seel Park outfit drop another couple of places in the table. They are currently 17th.

Clearly aiming to arrest the current slide, Lilywhites' joint-managers Peter Band and Lloyd Morrison have been busy on the transfer front.

As well as the recent capture of attacking midfielder Danny Byrnes following his recent release from Athletic, striker Darrhyl Mason has joined Mossley from Atherton Collieries. Mason (22) was previously with Cheadle Town, New Mills, Witton Albion, Clitheroe and Widnes FC.

Damian Skolorzynski (25) - a Polish-born left-back - has been signed from Ashton United.

He graduated through the youth system at Polish top division club Wisla Krakow, making his first team debut in 2011.

There have been a number of departures from Seel Park recently.

Defenders John Bennett and Dave Short have now left Mossley in search of regular football having been unable to hold down places in the starting XI.

Both have joined Northwich Victoria.

Goalkeeper Liam Flynn has also departed having lost his place to Niki-Lee Bulmer following the 8-0 defeat at Scarborough in November.

Flynn made 76 appearances for the Lilywhites.

Midfielder Javan Benjamin also looks to have played his last game for Mossley.

IMPRESSING

After impressing in pre-season, Benjamin made 12 Mossley appearances earlier in the league campaign, but hasn't featured recently.

CHADDERTON host Whitchurch Alport in the Hallmark Security League First Division.

Mark Howard's side are in decent form at present, having lost just once in their last six matches.

Alport will provide a stern test, however. The new league team from Shropshire currently top the table.
