Fish on fire as Mossley net seven

STRIKER Mike Fish scored four times as rampant Mossley roared to a thumping 7-2 victory against Prescot Cables in the Evo-Stik League Division One North.

The Lilywhites were in devastating form at Seel Park as their huge victory went on to fire them into a comfortable mid-table position.

The hosts were 5-0 up at half-time as the visitors from Merseyside simply had no answer to Mossley's fire-power.

Fish, who has now scored seven goals in his last four games, bagged all his goals in the opening period, while the recently-returned Sam Robinson was also on target.

Just two minutes into the second half it was 6-0 as Jason Hill struck, and the home fans were baying for double figures.

But credit to Cables, they reduced the already considerable deficit on the hour mark through James Edgar.

Skipper Andy Keogh added a seventh for Mossley with 14 minutes to go, before Cables got their second from Dominic Marie soon after.

The Lilywhites will bid to make it four wins on the spin when they are next in action on Saturday away at Ossett Town.

THERE was also a goal-fest at the ARK Fleetech Stadium as CHADDERTON secured a dramatic 5-4 home victory against Daisy Hill in the Hallmark Security League First Division.

Ashley Stott's double meant Chaddy were two goals behind after half-an-hour, but by the interval they had turned it round to lead 3-2 thanks to strikes from Chris Pauley, Vince Howell and a first of two penalties from veteran James Curley.

Hensley Mills and Matt Knowles pounced to make it 4-3 to Daisy Hill before the hour mark, but Chaddy weren't to be denied as Curley's second penalty, and Brian Totton's 80th-minute goal, secured a breathtaking victory.

Chaddy moved up to 14th place in the table - still 14 points shy of the play-off positions - ahead of Saturday's tough-looking trip to AFC Blackpool.
