CHADDERTON FC produced arguably their best performance of the season as they deservedly triumphed 3-1 at Maine Road in the third round of the Hallmark Security League Macron Cup competition.
First Division Chaddy were taking on a Maine Road side who are currently well up the Premier Division table, but the local lads were certainly not fazed and roared into the quarter-finals of the league's main knock-out competition thanks to goals from Matty Crothers, Chris Pauley and Luke Heron.
A late own-goal proved to be Maine Road's only consolation on a day when they were well beaten.
Asked if it was the best display since he took over at Chaddy in the summer, boss Mark Howard (pictured) said: "It's definitely up there.
"But that kind of top performance has been coming.
"As I have said, we are still finding our feet in this league, that's both me as a manager and the team overall.
"But a lot of the Premier Division teams like to play good football on the deck, and that's how we like to play.
"It was just a great team effort, and we are starting to see the benefits of having a more settled side.
"We're into the last eight now and I fancy us to go even further."
Howard added: "I've got great confidence in the squad as a whole. Things are starting to come together now."
Chaddy have been drawn away at Premier Division strugglers Nelson in the Macron Cup quarter-finals.
No date has been finalised for that game yet.
Chaddy return to First Division action on Saturday when they travel to Litherland REMYCA.
MOSSLEY'S scheduled home Evo-Stik League Division One North fixture against Clitheroe was postponed due to a frozen Seel Park pitch.
