Seddon double piles on misery

OUT-of-form Mossley plunged to a fifth straight defeat, 4-2 at Ramsbottom United in Evo-Stik League Division One North.

The Lilywhites appeared to be giving a good account of themselves until skipper Gareth Seddon opened the scoring for Rammy in the 39th minute.

Matty Burke restored parity just after the restart but Seddon - who featured prominently in the recent popular TV documentaries focusing on his former club Salford City - struck to make it 2-1 to the hosts two minutes later.

When Josh Askew made it 3-1 to Rammy in the 71st minute, Mossley's game appeared to be up.

Sub Mason Duffy pulled a goal back for the visitors, only for Ryan Salmon to wrap up Rammy's well-deserved victory five minutes from the end.

CRUCIAL

Mossley, who are now just a point above the drop zone, return to action with a crucial home fixture against rock-bottom Burscough on Saturday.

The stuttering Lilywhites have picked up just a solitary point from seven Seel Park league fixtures so far this term.

CHADDERTON crashed out of the Hallmark Security League Reusch First Division Cup at the second round stage, losing 2-0 at Charnock Richard.

A goal in either half from Mark Adams and Carl Grimshaw sealed Chaddy's fate.

Mark Howard's side are back in First Division action on Saturday when they travel to Holker Old Boys.
