RAMPANT Chadderton roared into the last 16 stage of the Hallmark Security League Macron Cup competition thanks to a thumping 6-3 victory at Holker Old Boys.
There were no goals in the opening 20 minutes in Cumbria, but then the floodgates opened. By half-time it was 4-1 to Chaddy.
Leon Iloube, veteran James Curley (two) and Sam Gibson scored for the visitors, while the Old Boys replied through Sam Joel.
It was 4-2 when Jamie Mellen struck just after the restart, but Matty Crothers netted and Curley (pictured) completed a superb hat-trick to seal Chaddy's progress.
Dave Swarbrick scored a late consolation goal for Holker at the end of a ding-dong battle.
Chaddy have been drawn away at Maine Road in the third round stage.
That tie will take place on Saturday, November 26.
Chaddy are scheduled to travel to Charnock Richard in the Reusch First Divisin Cup next time out on Saturday, though the fixture has still to be confirmed by the league.
TROUBLED
THESE are troubled times at Mossley, highlighted by their exit from the Buildbase FA Trophy at the hands of Farsley Celtic on Saturday.
The Lilywhites, who lost their grip on the Manchester Premier Cup in midweek after losing at Hyde, were defeated 3-1 by Farsley in what proved to be yet another dismal Seel Park performance.
The Yorkshiremen were 2-0 up at half-time thanks to goals from Lewis Nightingale and Aiden Savory.
Former Athletic starlet Jordan Bove gave Mossley hope as he struck three minutes into the second period, only for Nightingale to make it 3-1 to Farsley with nine minutes to go.
Mossley, who have now lost four of their last five matches, travel to Farsley tomorrow for an Evo-Stik League Division One North fixture (7.45pm kick-off).
