MARTIAL ARTS: IT was a day to remember for the Oldham-based Kenny Karate Club as they won medals galore at the Cumbrian Inter-Club Championships.
Six clubs took part at the Penrith Leisure Centre, and local club’s competitor of the day was Erin Joyce, who won two gold medals - to make up for just missing out on a medal at the English Championships a week earlier.
At the end of the day Kenny Karate had won six gold medals, nine silvers and 10 bronze.
Meanwhile, Katelyn Entwistle put the club on the map at the Mushindo Kai tournament in Wolverhampton and the Wado Kai competition in Hartlepool. She came home with two gold, two silver and three bronze.
