Alex Crossland Robins
TWELVE-year-old swim sensation Alex Crossland-Robins was in terrific form when competing at the British Gas ASA North-West Regional Age Group Championships.
Royton and Crompton School pupil Alex competed across two weekends, featured in eight races, and picked up an amazing six medals along the way.
He secured a gold medal and became regional champion in the gruelling 1,500-metre freestyle event.
Taking in 30 lengths of the 50m long course pool, Alex paraded plenty of grit and determination as he finished with a personal best time of 18 minutes, 20.27 seconds to storm to a superb victory.
He also secured two silver medals, in the 200m butterfly courtesy of a time of 2:38.65, while a time of 5:19.87 earned a silver in the 400m individual medley.
Alex also won three bronze medals.
They came in the 200m backstroke (2:30.89); 400m freestyle (2:15.61) and 200m individual medley (2:35.73).
Alex’s delighted dad Dave said: “His mum Angela and I both so proud of Alex’s commitment and results over the past year or so.”
Alex completed his North-West Championships by placing fourth in the 200m freestyle final and ninth in the 100m butterfly event.
