FOOTBALL: CHADDERTON Park FC are celebrating a landmark achievement.

They have received the FA’s Charter Standard Community Club award for their hard work at grassroots level.

Chadderton Park officials accepted the honour from Manchester United and England midfielder Michael Carrick and Frank Hannah MBE, president of the Manchester County FA, in a ceremony at Wythenshawe FC.

Club chairman Frank Nolan said: “This is a fantastic award for a club that continues to develop and raise standards in junior football.

“It is also just reward for all the people who work so hard behind the scenes to make the club the success that it is.”

Formed in 1979, Chadderton Park run in the region of 20 teams (girls and boys), from under-sixes to open age. They also boast nine level two FA-qualified coaches.

They also organise a successful league competition in schools. The winning team receives trophies from former England star Paul Scholes, Carrick’s United team-mate at Old Trafford.
