BROADWAY Celtic under-12s produced an amazing recovery against AFC Oldham in the Tameside Sunday League.

Trailing 4-1 with 20 minutes to go, they hit back to record a thrilling 5-4 victory.

Celtic’s scorers were Liam Allen, Tristan Jones (two) and Billy Slattery (two), who hit the equaliser and winner in a dramatic finish.


SPRINGHEAD under-14s powered their way into the quarter-finals of the Challenge Cup with a 4-1 win over Hattersley.

The local outfit were denied time and again by the ’keeper, who was the busiest player on the pitch.

Springhead finally broke the deadlock through Connor Gooseman, but the Hattersley custodian continued to play a staring role for his side.

He was beaten again, though, by Jordan Mortimer, who added a third for Springhead.

Substitute Mohammed Najib’s superb half-volley made it four, before Hattersley scored a consolation.

ROSS Young (two), Joe Royal and Wesley Grant got the goals as Boundary Park Juniors under-13s ‘B’ overcame Failsworth Town 4-2.

Town replied through C Schofield and C Thorpe.

The under-16s brushed aside Dukinfield Town 9-2 — Andy Winterbottom (three), Danny Vickers (two), Kingston Sutherland (two), Mark Roberts and an own goal did the damage — and the under-19s, with Jermaine Steele (two), Adam Sutcliffe and Jonathon Hadfield on target, defeated Stalybridge Celtic 4-0.


ROCS FC under-15s’ interest in the Challenge Cup is over for another season.

They were beaten 3-1 on penalties by Manchester Maccabi after the second-round tie had ended 2-2.

David Clegg and Scott Reeves scored for ROCS.

FAILSWORTH Town under-14s reached round three of the Challenge Cup thanks to a 2-1 victory at home to Manchester Maccabi. K Kingsland and K Cook were on the mark.

PERRY Oatway got the only goal of the game as Failsworth Dynamos under-14s recorded a 1-0 win over 3D Dynamos.

The under-13s continued their quest for Challenge Cup glory with a 9-1 defeat of Boundary Park Juniors.

Dale Dunthorn struck four times, Kyran Hill helped himself to a double and there was one apiece for Luke Wood, Tom Hudson and Jake Jones.

Tameside and District Junior Football League

A GOAL from Mike Taylor was good enough as unbeaten Chadderton Juniors FC under-16s defeated title rivals Mossley 1-0 in the Tameside and District Junior League.


UPPERMILL under-11s, including a hat-trick from Murray Liptrot, brushed aside Haughton Rangers 8-3.

Jack Fidler and substitute Tom Stanton scored two each and Callum Faulkner got the other.

GOALS from Kade Howarth, Connor Henley, Jack Altamis, Jack Wallace and Ryan Scholes did the damage as Heyside JFC under-11s defeated Failsworth Dynamos 5-1.

ROYTON Town are up to third in the table after a 4-1 win at Denton Youth, but the under-12s, who can’t be faulted for effort, were beaten 8-0 at home to Clayton Villa.


North Bury Junior League

THERE were chances galore as Chaddy Hoppers under-13s Blue defeated Elton and Walshaw 5-4 in the North Bury Junior League.

The local outfit created more than 15 opportunities, whereas their opponents managed six.

And it was Hoppers who came out on top thanks to goals from Elliot Moss (three), Daniel Randle and James Kirby.

Under-13s Red went behind to Farnworth, but hit back to win 6-1.

Andy Robins (three), Josh O’Donnell (two) and Josh Riley were on target for Hoppers.

Home draw for town team

OLDHAM Schools under-15s have received a plum home draw against Harrogate and Craven in round three of the prestigious ESFA Inter-Association Knock-out Trophy.

Although it will be a tough test for the town team, they should go into the tie full of confidence after seeing off a strong Cannock side in a thrilling 4-2 win at The Lancaster Club.

The game will take place on or before Saturday, November 14.

Third-round ties involving teams from north and north-west are —

High-fives for ’Mill hot-shots

HOT-SHOTS Katie Lockwood and Laura Barlow went nap for free-scoring Uppermill under-11s in the North Manchester Girls League.

They shared 10 goals in the 12-0 defeat of Glossop North End.

Laura’s sister Megan played in goal in the first half before being switched to an outfield role after the restart.

And the move paid off as she scored twice to complete a one-sided win.


SOMETHING had to give when Uppermill under-12s and Heyside Clarets — both teams unbeaten — locked horns.

And it was ’Mill who won 2-1 thanks to goals in each half from Jayme Butler-Jones and full-back Jess Hardie, whose long-range effort bounced over the ’keeper’s head.


ABBY Bennett weighed in with four goals and Leah Bickerstaffe got two as ROCS FC under-13s swept aside Mossley 6-0.

The under-16 produced their best performance of the season so far as they overcame Heyside Angels 6-2.

Emma Watson hit a hat-trick, Bethany Ormrod bagged a brace and Faye Hardicre got the other.


TIA Jackson, Chloe Pickering and Laura Garlick scored for Oldham Athletic Girls under-12s, but their efforts were in vain as they were beaten 4-3 by Curzon Ashton.

Lidia Tunstall was on target for the under-13s, who were beaten 10-1 by Heyside Angels Clarets.

Kinsa Hmami (three), Zoe Kelly (two), Natalie Giblin (two), Bryony Bolton, Ashleigh Dickinson and Hayley Tomlinson got the Heyside goals.

And Athletic under-14s lost 1-0 to Rochdale, but the under-16s enjoyed an excellent 6-3 win over Moston Juniors.

Ashlie Ball (two), Nichole Scott (two), Shelby Newton and Vicky Connor scored for Athletic.



MOLLY Taylor helped herself to four goals and Ella Rigby got three as Heyside Angels Whites under-11s defeated Oldham Athletic Girls 8-0. Lavinia Whitehead completed the tally


CHADDERTON Park under-13s went down 6-1 to Unicorn and the under-14s succumbed 6-0 to Denton Girls.

Under-12s on the up

UPPERMILL under-12s produced a gritty performance to defeat Linthwaite 5-4 in the Huddersfield and District Junior League.

Nathan Bradbury (two), Tom Johnstone, Josh Barlow and Lewis Barlow were on the mark for ’Mill, who are now up to third in the table.

The under-15s also tasted success. They overcame Marsden 3-2 — Luke Cosgrove, Jack Evans and Jake Kershaw got the goals — and Phil Klich registered a treble for the under-16s in a 7-1 win defeat of Shelley.

Danny Mills (two), Ashley Williams and an own goal made up the tally.


A DEPLETED 3D Dynamos under-12s showed a terrific attitude to defeat a strong Howden Clough side 3-2.

Jack Churchill, Aaron Rogers and Ellis Forshaw scored for 3D.

And the under-16s, with Matthew Ralph (three), Alex Kelly (two), Jordan O’Connor, Ricky Hall and Sam Joyce on the mark, enjoyed an excellent 8-1 win over Bradford Park Avenue.


East Manchester Junior League

TWO goals from Ashley Hartley and a Danny Miller strike secured a 3-1 win for Chadderton Juniors FC under-12s against Avro Juniors in the East Manchester Junior League.


Rochdale and Oldham Youth League

Johnson’s effort in vain

JACK JOHNSON got the consolation goal as Crompton Villa under-13s lost 4-1 to table-toppers Springhead in the Rochdale and Oldham Youth League.
