A PENALTY shoot-out decided the issue when two under-16s teams from Chaddy End FC went head to head in round one of the County Cup.

Locked together at 3-3, it was the boys from the Bury and Radcliffe Youth League who progressed 4-2 in the shoot-out at the expense of the Tameside Sunday Junior League team.

On target for Chaddy End (Bury) were Tom Keegan (two) and Danny Noble, while Michael Taylor (two) and Ryan Colbain replied.

AVRO Juniors had mixed fortunes in the County Cup.

The under-19s brushed aside Irlam 23-0 and the under-14s went through to the next stage of the competition as opponents Failsworth Dynamos were unable to raise a team.

But the under-12s are out after a 5-1 defeat at the hands of Hough End.

BROADWAY Celtic under-16s maintained their 100-per-cent record with an impressive 5-2 win over Flixton Juniors.

James Leech led from the front with a well-taken hat-trick after James Bowling had opened the scoring. A powerful header from midfielder Callum Lambert made it five.

HEYSIDE Juniors under-16s progressed to the second round after coming from behind to beat Swinton-based Moorside Rangers 3-1 thanks to goals from Stefan Whaley, Matthew Dell and Tom Shaw.

But the under-12s bowed out, beaten 9-1 by Reddish Villa — Bradley Gordon — scored the consolation — and despite goals from Ben Holmes (two), Michael Hall and Connor Oxendale, the under-14s were beaten 5-4 by Fletcher Moss.

Under-14s Junior Blues are also out after they lost on penalties to Stalybridge Celtic. It was 2-2 after extra time.

KAIMMEN Morris equalised for Springhead under-14s, but his effort was in vain as they went down 5-1 to Failsworth Town.
