Magic Matty wins the day

MATTY GREEN refused to be beaten as Failsworth Dynamos under-15s overcame West End Boys on penalties in the Manchester County Cup.

The ace shot-stopper kept West End at bay as they won the spot-kick decider 2-0 after the first-round tie had finished all-square at 2-2.

James Sidlow and Macaulay Peacock scored for Dynamos in normal time, while Tiger Freeman and Danny Turner held their nerve in the shoot-out.

CHADDERTON Park under-11s Cobras made smooth progress into the second round with a 7-2 win over Heyside Juniors.

On target for Park were Sam Carr (two), James Collins (two), Clayton Thomas, Matthew Cunningham and Aaron Clegg, while Jordan Robinson and Ethan Ullah replied.

CHADDERTON Juniors FC under-13s left themselves too much to do against Hough End Griffins.

Trailing 3-0 at the break, they eventually went down 4-3 after a second-half recovery. Matthew Goulding, Bradley Humphreys and Ty Denny were Chadderton’s marksmen.

HEYSIDE JFC under-11s required extra time to overcome Unicorn Athletic 3-2.

Jack Wallace, Ronan Beckitt and an own goal made up Heyside’s tally.

ROYTON Town under-15s bowed out after they were beaten 5-2 by Shevington Sharks.

CHADDY End FC under-11s, with Robbie Wilkinson (three), Jordan Hardman (three), JJ Fraay (two) and Owen Woodward weighing in with the goals, swept aside Haughton Rangers 9-1.

But efforts from Joe Burgoyne (two), Chris Batters, Danny Hawthorne and Levi Browe were in vain as the under-15s lost 7-5 to Cadishead Sports.

A HAT-TRICK from Femi Ogunnuga, and further goals from Callum Taylor and Oliver Higgins clinched a 5-2 win for Hollinwood under-13s over AFC Clayton.

Tameside Sunday League

SPRINGHEAD under-14s had to come from behind to maintain their perfect record in the Tameside Sunday League.

Behind at the break — Thomas Ireland got the goal for opponents Heyside Juniors — they hit back to win 4-1.

A scrambled effort from Kareem James, a Jordan Mortimer double and a header from Kaimmen Morris did the damage for Springhead.

o FAILSWORTH Town under-13s had T Sampson (three), C Thorpe (two), R Murray and R Salt on the scoresheet in a 7-2 triumph at Moston Valley.

And the under-14s, with R Conway (three) and D Marshall on the mark, defeated Mossley 4-0.

o BOUNDARY Park Juniors under-16s were beaten 2-0 by Glossop North End, and Ryan Knott scored the consolation goal for under-13s ‘A’ in a 5-1 defeat by Marauders.

o BEN Holmes, Connor Oxendale, Tom Dunn, Michael Pass and Josh Wheldrick weighed in with the goals as Heyside Juniors under-14s swept aside Hattersley 5-0.

R.O.C.S FC under-15s threw away a 4-1 lead against Denton Youth.

They seemed set for maximum points at the interval, but Denton fought back and in the end both sides had to settle for a 5-5 draw.

Scorers for R.O.C.S were David Clegg, with a hat-trick, and Scott Reeves (two).

CHADDERTON Juniors FC under-12s, despite goals from Liam Hindley, Danny Miller and Ashley Hartley, succumbed 4-3 to Heyside Juniors.

CHADDY End FC under-16s had Ryan Colbane (two), Curtis Ingham and Aidan Ball on target in a 4-1 defeat of Manchester Gregorians.

TRISTAN Jones (two) and Connor Chesters got the goals as Broadway Celtic posted a narrow 3-2 win over Moston Valley.

Manchester Youth League

FAILSWORTH Town under-15s were beaten 1-0 by Medlock Rangers in round one of the Manchester Youth League Cup.

Rochdale and OIdham Youth League

JORDAN HOLT and Matty Singleton scored four goals apiece as Chaddy End FC under-15s overpowered Fothergill Falcons 12-1 in the Rochdale and Oldham Youth League.

Sam Bowles scored a hat-trick and Scott Brocklebank got the other in a 12-1 victory.

CROMPTON Villa under-13s, spearheaded by Harry Southern’s double, defeated Alkrington Dynamos 6-3.

Ben Walker, Adam Crossman, Hayden Clarke and Jack Johnson were the other scorers.

NEW BOYS MBC Rangers made Heyside Juniors under-16s work hard for a 2-0 win.

Goals in the first and last minute from Ryan Atkin and Matthew Dell sealed victory.

North Bury League

ELLIOTT Moss made a name for himself as Chaddy Hoppers under-13s Blue hit Elton Walshaw for six in the North Bury League.

The sharp-shooter scored five of the goals in the emphatic 6-1 triumph. J Kirby got the other in the premier division clash.

Under-13s Red, thanks to an Andy Robins strike, defeated Middleton Colts 1-0 in an evenly-contested encounter.

The two teams also go head to head this weekend in a cup competition.

The under-16s were in first-round cup action and they moved into the next stage thanks to a 3-1 defeat of Boothstown.

Striker Kelvin Mupa made it five goals in two games with a brace, while Chris Smethurst’s excellent solo effort completed the tally.

Huddersfield and District Junior League

MATTHEW McGroarty’s superb last-minute strike clinched a thrilling 3-2 win for Uppermill under-16s against Hartshead in the Huddersfield and District Junior League.

Will Kelly and James Jowle were also on the mark for ’Mill.

The under-12s produced a solid performance in a 3-0 success over fourth-placed Clifton. Conner Brennan, Josh Barlow and Sean Bergin found the net

But the under-17s conceded two goals in the last 10 minutes in a disappointing 3-2 defeat at the hands of Shelf. Tom Lord and Joe Jackson scored for Uppermill.

3D DYNAMOS under-16s climbed off the bottom of the table after a 4-1 defeat of Scholes.

An Elliot Fielding hat-trick and a Alex Kelly effort did the damage.

The under-12s, with Charlie Maslen (three), James Hey (two), Ellis Forshaw and Joe Connolly finding the net, brushed aside Batley 7-3.

But under-13s ‘B’, despite goals from Alex Milovanovic (two), Sam Wilson and Jason Norris, were beaten 5-4 by Challenge FC.
