Quickfire Mortimer spurs Springhead

A FIRST-HALF hat-trick from Jordan Mortimer set Springhead under-14s on their way to an emphatic 8-1 win over Heyside Juniors in the Tameside Sunday League.

Mortimer’s treble, plus a brace from Kaimmen Morris, put the game beyond their opponents’ reach before the break.

Springhead had to play the second half with only 10 players because of an injury, but they continued to force the pace.

Mortimer took his personal tally to five, while Josh Jones also got in on the scoring act. Danny Lewis replied for Heyside.

GOALS from D Marks (two), C Thorpe and T Sampson earned Failsworth Town under-13s a 4-0 win over Broadway Celtic.

The under-14s defeated Gamesley Town 2-0 — D Marshall did the damage — and the under-10s swept aside Harpurhey United Cobras 10-1. On target were D Vernon (two), M McCartney (two), M Dobson, K White, D Walsh, K Beaumont, P Jagger and T Dermondy.
