Martial arts success

MEMBERS of the DEMAA Martial Arts Academy, based at Bright Street, Oldham, enjoyed success in a competition at Dinnington, Sheffield.
Damian Hiron (18), a former Hathershaw School pupil, picked up a silver medal for both kick-boxing and grappling.
Warren Freestone (12) took two golds for kickboxing and a silver for grappling, while 25-year-old Billy Wiseman was thrown in at the deep end on his competitive debut but took silver medals in both disciplines.
William Sutcliffe (11) won gold in his first-ever grappling bout, while sister Amy (12) took silver in the female grappling.
The Terry children, whose parents Dave and Adele are senior instructors at DEMAA, joined in the medal haul.
Dominic Terry (10), a pupil at Alt School, took a kickboxing gold, while Bobby (7), who attends Mills Hill Primary, took gold for kickboxing and silver for grappling.
South Chadderton pupil Latisha Terry (14) won gold for grappling, while eight-year-old Elizabeth, also a pupil at Mills Hill, earned the Children’s Incentive Title Belt.
