Junior Football round up

Tameside and District Junior League

HEYSIDE JFC under-12s will be sick of the sight of penalties after their Tameside and District Junior League Cup tie ended in heartache.

The youngsters were aiming for a place in the final, but finished up losing a spot-kick shoot-out 15-14 to Wythenshawe Town.

All-square at 2-2 after extra time — Josh Dale and Jack Higginson scored for Heyside — it was left to penalties to decide which team would go through.

And, after umpteen attempts, Wythenshawe finally put paid to Heyside’s hopes.

DESPITE missing five players through injury and half-term holidays, Chadderton FC Juniors under-15s booked their place in the last four of the League Cup.

They defeated Denton Phoenix 4-1 — a Mike Taylor hat-trick and a Jack Beasley goal did the damage — to set up a last-four tie against Hyde United.

A HAT-TRICK from Niall Swanick, plus other goals from Josh Hayes (two), Lee Rowbotham and Bradley Ashford, saw Moorside Juniors under-16s sweep aside Glossop North End 7-2 in the last eight of the League Cup.

SAM Bagshaw put 3D Dynamos under-11s ‘T’ in front against Moston Brook in the second round of the League Cup.

But Moston, with goals from Aaron Nemane (two) and Marshall Roberts, fought back to win 3-1.

Under-11s ‘M’ coasted to a 5-0 victory over Clayton Villa — Dom Kerrison (two), Tom Waring, Remi Morris and Charlie Maslin were on target — but the under-16s succumbed 8-0 to Barr Hill.

Heyside bask in proud record

HEYSIDE JFC’S defeat of Boundary Park Juniors ‘B’ had added significance.

It wasn’t the 11-0 win or Joe Wilson’s four goals. The result marked a year of unbeaten football for the under-nines hot-shots.

Heyside last tasted defeat on October 27, 2007 — they lost 4-0 to Chadderton Grasshoppers in the North Bury Junior League — and since then they have won 19 and drawn three of their 22 games, scoring 98 goals in the process.

They have finished runners-up in the league, won two tournaments and picked up a fair play award.

Coach Kevin Dunkerley said: “To go a year unbeaten is a special achievement that the boys should be very proud of.

“I do encourage the team to win and to achieve goals that will push them as individuals, but not at the expense of discipline and respect, and definitely not at the expense of fun and enjoyment.

“We are a very happy camp at the moment and long may it continue.”

Adam Dunkerley (two), Jack Cocker, Jack Dunkerley, Sulaiman Sajjad, Dane Taylor and Kieren May got the other goals for Heyside, who currently sit top of the Manchester Mini-Soccer League table.

North Bury Junior League

CHADDY Hoppers under-13s Red were too good for Whitworth in the North Bury Junior League.

Martin Kenny helped himself to a hat-trick, Blane Biggs bagged a brace and Sean Gleeson got the other in an emphatic 6-1 win. Blane would have been celebrating a treble, but for seeing his penalty saved.

The Blue team left it late to pick up maximum points against Blackley Juniors.

They seem destined for a 1-1 draw, but a last-gasp Matthew McGladdery goal — his second of the game — clinched victory.

Other results and scorers are —

UNDER-10S: Chadderton Park ‘A’ 9 ( Cameron Horner 3, Alex Parker 3, Alex Ralphs 3), Rossendale Mavericks 1.

East Manchester Mini-Soccer League

RESULTS and scorers from the East Manchester Mini-Soccer League are —

Under-14s Angels were too good for Meltham Athletic, with goals from Rhema Mears (five), Katie Jones (four), Abbie Andrews (three), Katie Royston (two), Jessica Cooke (two) and Beth Giblin sealing a 17-1 success.

Leoni Harland, Paige Rowland and Phoebe Dunne scored two each for under-13s Angels Inter in a 7-0 defeat of Rochdale FC. Sophie Montgomery also struck.

Beth Mellor bagged a hat-trick and Kelly Ward weighed in with the other goal as Clarets under-13s overcame Denton Town 4-2.

And Hannah Smedley scored the only goal of the game as Angels Inter under-11s edged out their Clarets club-mates 1-0.

UPPERMILL Rockettes under-13s wasted a two-goal advantage as they went down 7-5 to Harpurhey United.

They seemed set for maximum points after Jess Hardy, Jayme Butler-Jones and Ellen Bergin had put them 3-1 in front.

A mad 10 minutes before half-time allowed Harpurhey to equalise, and they established a 7-3 lead in the second period.

But the Rockettes dug deep and reduced the arrears through defender Kiera Royales and Butler-Jones’ second of the game.

Ellie Stanford put under-16s ahead against Droylsden, and they went on to dominate the game.

Jenny Irwin doubled their lead, before Becky Hall’s double strike in the second half sealed a 4-0 success.
