LUCAS Selby scored a spectacular 158 as Oldham District under-11s booked their ticket for the final of the Bob Hurst Trophy.

The talented opening batsman was eventually trapped leg before wicket in the last of his side's 40 overs as the town team amassed 253 for four against Salford at Royton's Paddock ground.

Lucas' innings, which included 11 sizzling sixes, was a display of control and confidence.

He was ably supported by Jack Fawcett, Alfie McMylor, Connor Grafton (31) and Sufyan Islam.

The result was never in doubt as Salford were skittled for 80.

Lucas, a pupil at Hulme Court Preparatory School and captain of Lancashire under-11s, took one for 10 off his three overs.

Fawcett claimed three for 37 off five overs and Luca Pemberton recorded superb figures of three for five off three overs.

Oldham coach Paul Connolly said: "There were strong displays from individuals, but the team performance was really outstanding.

"It shows the rewards for the training we have been doing with the players.

"For example Elliot Lawrence achieved a run out with a good pick up and throw."

Oldham play Bolton in the final at Rainford CC, on Thursday, September 7.
