Glodwick suffer semi-final exit

THERE was LCB Cup finals' day disappointment for Glodwick under-13s.

The Warren Lane youngsters exited at the last-four stage to hosts and eventual winners Greenmount.

After calling correctly at the toss, Glodwick decided to bowl and accurate spells from Abdullah Sadiir and Sufyaan Ahmed limited Greenmount to 22 without loss from the first six overs.

The breakthrough came with the score on 34, Matthew Connolly taking a fine catch.

Lancashire under-13s captain Evan Williams and Dan Stevens upped the tempo with a few lusty blows, with the latter retiring on 31.

Williams made 20, while new batsman Callum Hunter walked back to the pavilion unbeaten on 32 from only 22 deliveries.

Chasing 121 for victory was always going to be a tough ask for Glodwick, but 20 for no wicket was a positive start.

Daniel Stock struck 13 off the first over, but he was the first player to be dismissed with the total on 23.

Mubashar Zeer was run out in the next over and Yousef Iqbal was bowled for no score as Glodwick slipped to 24 for three.

Boasting a deep batting line up, there was still hope for Glodwick, but Greenmount gave little away and regular wickets and lack of boundaries saw the score creep up to 56 for five with only six overs left.

Adam Chadwick hit a fine 20 not out late on to give the final total of 82 for six some respectability.

Greenmount went on to lift the LCB Cup after beating Longridge by 30 runs and will represent Lancashire in the All England Under-13s Cup later in the summer.
