Green stars as Glodwick triumph

GLODWICK and Friarmere produced a cracking match in round seven of the Oldham Cricket Development Group Indoor Under-11s League.
In a game that was in doubt right to the final ball, Glodwick, batting second, scored 249 to claim a four-run victory, and retain joint second place in the table.
Their star man was Josh Green, who batted excellently for 15 runs, and bowled a wicket maiden.
But Friarmere could take plenty from the game. Adam Anjum, who is only eight years old, bowled very sharply and took a superb one-handed catch behind the wicket. Kabir Ahmed also impressed.
Saddleworth lost seven wickets against Uppermill, and with each wicket costing five runs their score was reduced to 234.
Uppermill's early batting was more solid, and when the final over started victory was in their grasp, but then disaster struck as three wickets fell to Elliot Lawrence, leaving Uppermill on a score of 222.
REACHES
The two remaining unbeaten teams, both from the Royton club, met and it was the Trojans who came out on top.
Their score of 265 was well beyond the reaches of the Heroes' batsmen.
With three rounds of matches left the Trojans now stand alone at the top of the table.
Another team in joint second place is Austerland Aces.
Having lost five wickets thanks to excellent fielding by Christ Church, they were indebted to George Daubney for their eventual score of 266.
He hit the ball hard and cleanly, and included two sixes in his innings of 25.
The Scholars had no-one who could match that fire power, and after losing six wickets their innings closed on 209.
The other Austerlands team, the Avengers, are still looking for their first points of the season after coming badly unstuck against Greenfield, losing by 41 runs.
In the final game of round seven, Woodhouses recorded their second win of the campaign, defeating Heyside by 34 runs.
