Bower battles so important

LOCKED in a relegation dogfight, Oldham RL Club's six remaining games at Bower Fold will be crucial to their KP Championship survival plan.

The next three, all classed as "four pointers" in the scrap to retain Championship status, see Whitehaven, Swinton Lions and Workington Town visit the Stalybridge venue, starting with James Coyle's 'Haven this Sunday (3pm kick-off).

At the end of the 23-match regular season, Oldham will then play another seven games in the Championship Shield - three of them at Bower Fold, making half a dozen home games in total in the only stadium in which Roughyeds have picked up league points this year.

Bearing in mind how much will be riding on the 'super six', the club is offering fans a deal in which they can pay up front for five and get one free.

Normal turnstile admission costs £15 adults and £12 concessions (standing) or £17 adults and £14 concessions (seating).

The offer, open until kick-off on Sunday, means a standing adult can watch all six games for £75; a seated adult for £85; a standing concession for £60; and a seated concession for £70.

Normal prices would be £90, £102, £72 and £84 respectively.

The club office at Whitebank will be open for business from 9.30am to 4pm tomorrow (Friday) and fans can also take advantage of the offer up to kick-off time on Sunday (3pm) at Bower Fold's main reception. Payment by cash or cheque only.

Fans who can't get to Whitebank tomorrow can ring the club on 07904898177 and arrange to collect tickets at Bower Fold on Sunday.

Coach Scott Naylor (pictured) said: "Sunday will hopefully be the start of a positive period for us.

"Whitehaven is a big game; an important one; and one we need to be ready for. We've been low on confidence after a horrendous run of games, but we just need a bit of time to recover and then we'll move on."

Oldham currently have eight points with 12 games to play. Last year Hunslet Hawks and Doncaster went down with 16 points and four respectively.

Whitehaven and Batley Bulldogs each finished with 20 points.
