CHRIS Hamilton is urging Oldham RL fans to back Roughyeds in numbers against city slickers Bradford Bulls at Bower Fold on Sunday.
The Bulls travel to Stalybridge (3pm kick-off) as unbeaten Championship leaders — a side going flat out to regain Super League status this year. Since the formation of Oldham RLFC (1997) Ltd, this will be the first time the clubs have played each other in league competition.
Oldham chairman Hamilton said: “It will be a big occasion for us. Bradford will bring a lot of fans with them. They will be in fine voice and we don’t want our supporters to be out-numbered and out-shouted at a home game. There should be a terrific atmosphere.”
Tom Ashton and Craig Briscoe are ruled out by illness or injury, leaving Oldham coach Scott Naylor 21 players to choose from.
There are still no dual-registration players available to Roughyeds from Huddersfield because of the Giants’ own injury list.
Said Naylor: “We are improving every week as a team, so we have to get out there; give it everything we’ve got.”
