Oldham’s double boost for Rams game

STEVE ROPER . . . experience.
Steve Roper and Liam Thompson have been cleared to play for Oldham against Dewsbury Rams this Sunday.
They took knocks to the head against Leigh, went off in the first half and never returned. But the pair have since passed RFL tests and cleared by the club doctor for Sunday’s KP Championship game at Bower Fold (3pm).
A decision on Danny Grimshaw, who missed the first two league games after damaging a leg in the Law Cup win at Rochdale, will be made tomorrow.
Loan signing Jake Bibby (19), a centre, trained with Oldham for the first time last night and is included in a provisional 21-man squad.
“Jake slotted in easily,” said coach Scott Naylor. “He looked very comfortable.”
Dual-reg help from Huddersfield remains a possibility, but no decision will be made until Paul Anderson has weighed up his own injury situation today.
Said Naylor: “It will be interesting to see how we fare against a part-time team. We’ve learned a lot in games against two full-time teams. But the real challenge for us is to beat part-timers, which is what we’ll be trying to do on Sunday.”
