OLDHAM RL Club have signed Salford Red Devils youngster Jake Bibby, initially on loan for a month.
The highly-rated outside back (20) will join the team at training tomorrow night and will be in contention for the squad to play Dewsbury Rams at Bower Fold on Sunday, when Scott Naylor’s men will be working for their first Championship win.
Bibby, who starred in last season’s Salford under-19s side, is being groomed for Super League by the Reds, who think he will benefit from time under the wing of Naylor and his team.
Said Naylor: “Jake is well thought of at Salford. He is an outside back and we don’t have a great many of those. I’m looking forward to working with him. Hopefully we’ll both get a lot out of the loan. All things being equal he’ll be in the frame with everyone else for Sunday.”
The deal was finalised by Oldham chairman Chris Hamilton and Salford coach Ian Watson. Said Hamilton: “Salford expect Jake to play in Super League this year, but they're keen for him to get some experience at our level. Other clubs were also after him so we’re grateful to Salford.”
