CRAIG Briscoe is said to be a “massive doubt” for the game with London Broncos that will start a new era for Oldham Rugby League Club.
There are queries too about Adam Clay - last season’s top try scorer - and new half-back Danny Grimshaw, whose form in the three pre-season games has been impressive.
Clay suffered a minor groin injury in training and was left out of the squad that won the Law Cup at Rochdale.
Briscoe damaged a knee in the first few minutes of the 22-0 win at Barrow eight days ago.
dealt Roughyeds were dealt another blow in the opening minutes of the 29-12 win at Rochdale when Grimshaw swept in for a stunning, long-range individual try before taking a knock a few minutes later in a tackle.
Oldham coach Scott Naylor said: “Briscoe is a massive doubt and we’ll know more about the other two when we meet up again tomorrow night. Clay hurt a groin while training last Thursday. It isn’t a tear or anything serious like that.” All three will be assessed tomorrow.
The game against Broncos at the Bower Fold home of Stalybridge Celtic FC on Sunday will be Oldham’s first in the Kingstone Press Championship.
