‘Exciting’ Grimshaw is new recruit

Danny Grimshaw spent six years at Hunslet Hawks.
OLDHAM have invested in their third new signing for 2016 by nailing Hunslet and former York half-back Danny Grimshaw.
"He's exciting, unpredictable and just what we will need in the championship," said coach Scott Naylor of the 29-year-old Yorkshireman.
Grimshaw has played 50 of his 122 career appearances in the sport's second tier, winning two separate player of the year awards in Hunslet's championship campaign of 2011.
When the new boys line up on the first night of pre-season training, Grimshaw will be alongside winger Jamel Chisholm, formerly of York, and second-row forward Craig Briscoe from Barrow.
Added Naylor: "He impressed me in the two games he played against us last year. I like the way he plays and he will provide us with something different at half-back.
“Danny’s arrival will allow me to play different half-back combinations, depending on the opposition. I’ve been trying to get him for a while and I'm really pleased it’s finally happened.”
Grimshaw, who still lives in Sharlston, said: “Six years at one club is a long time. I felt I was in a bit of a rut. Hunslet wanted to sign me again, but I needed freshening up at a new club.
“A few showed some interest, but Scott Naylor was the first to speak to me directly and then I met Chris Hamilton, who really sold Oldham to me with what he said about the club, about Scott and about how the club is run.
“Moving to a Lancashire club is something new for me. It presents a different challenge. I've got the old buzz back. I feel hungry again.
“I’ll be a bit nervous at first as one of the new boys, but I’m sure I’ll soon settle in and make new friends. They sound to be a great bunch, and you can’t help but be impressed by what they've done this season.”
