Cougars and Lions bid to join Oldham

KEIGHLEY Cougars and Swinton Lions, who finished second and third behind Oldham in Kingstone Press League One, will battle in Sunday’s grand final for the right to join Oldham in the Championship in 2016.
Cougars cruised to a 32-6 home win against North Wales Crusaders in the play-off semi-final, while Swinton edged an extra-time thriller with York City Knights, winning 18-17 thanks to Chris Atkins’s golden-point drop goal.
Oldham will celebrate their league leaders’ shield and championship trophy at the club’s awards dinner at Whitebank this Friday. Tickets on (0161) 624 9630, ext 70552.
