LEWIS Palfrey will hit the milestone of 100 career games in a must-win clash with Oxford at Whitebank on Sunday (3pm).
Having lost three of their last four matches against Barrow and Keighley away and North Wales at home, Oldham can’t afford another slip and they will be looking to stand-off Palfrey, the captain, to set a positive lead on the day he becomes a centurion.
Reared at Salford, he broke into senior rugby at Whitehaven in 2011 when when he scored 160 points in 23 games.
The following year he had only seven games with the Cumbrians in Championship One, but 12 while out on loan with Batley Bulldogs in the Championship.
One of Scott Naylor’s early signings for Oldham before the start of the 2013 season, Palfrey has worn the Roughyeds jersey 57 times, amassing 457 points in total with 14 tries, 200 goals and one drop goal.
In his 99 career appearances, he has scored 23 tries, landed 276 goals and one drop goal for an overall total of 645 points.
This season Palfrey (pictured) has missed only one of Oldham’s 14 games in cup and league, kicking 54 goals, scoring four tries and landing one drop goal for 125 points.
He has scored a try in each of the last three games against Keighley, Newcastle and North Wales, but it’s his goalkicking which puts him among the League One leaders.
In league games only, he lies third in the list behind Barrow’s Josh Ward and Gloucester’s Mike Bradley and in terms of overall points in league matches he’s ranked fourth behind Rochdale’s Paul Crook, Ward and Bradley.
Goals (league only): Ward 40, Bradley 35, PALFREY 33, Tommy Johnson (North Wales) 30, Crook 29.
Points (league only): Crook 95, Ward 92, Bradley 86, PALFREY 83.
