Date published: 22 December 2010
JOHN Hough’s Oldham reserves side will play three pre-season warm-up games — two of them against the up-and-coming youngsters of clubs in the Championship.
Dewsbury Rams’ reserves will come to the Whitebank Stadium on Saturday, February 12 (2pm kick off), while high-flying Halifax, winners of the 2010 Championship grand final, have agreed to send their second string to the home of the Roughyeds for the first time on Wednesday, February 23 (7.30pm).
The pre-season programme will be completed when Hough takes his boys to Keighley Cougars on Thursday, March 3 (7.30pm).
The following weekend sees the start of the league campaign in which Roughyeds will be striving to make the play-offs for the second year in a row.
There will be 18 league games in total, spread equally home and away, and these will be followed by the play-offs, which are expected to incorporate the top six teams.
Fans are reminded that the Law Cup clash with derby rivals Rochdale Hornets at the Whitebank Stadium on Sunday, January 2 (3pm) will be all pay.
Admission prices are £10 adults, £8 concessions (over-65s) and £4 under-16s. Seats will not be reserved, and admission to the stand will be by £2 transfer on a first-come basis.
Season tickets, which cover 10 home league games; two home Northern Rail Cup ties against Hunslet Hawks and Whitehaven; and a third-round tie in the Carnegie Challenge Cup if the match is staged at the Whitebank Stadium, can be bought from the Roughyeds office in Lansdowne Road, Chadderton (0161 628 3677) up to noon on Friday.
Turnstile prices for the season proper, starting with the Northern Rail Cup, are £12 adults, £10 over-65s and £4 under-16s, but substantial savings are available to anyone purchasing season tickets up front.
Prices for standing are £125 adults, £105 over-65s and £30 under-16s; to have a seat you pay £150 adults, £130 over-65s, £55 under-16s.
Under-16s include home and away league games; home and away ties in the early rounds of the Northern Rail Cup; and early rounds of the Challenge Cup.
