ROUGHYEDS chief executive Chris Hamilton and owner Bill Quinn will hold talks today in a bid to resolve the future of the club.

The pair talked briefly yesterday and discussions will centre on a proposal put forward by Quinn which would enable Hamilton to purchase his 75-per-cent shareholding and take sole control of the club.

Existing players have contacted the club asking for the latest news on developments and the hope would be that many choose to stay on for next season once the situation is resolved.

Officials are currently in the process of arranging specialist appointments for Jamie I’Anson, Craig Lawton and Paul Highton.

Elsewhere, Steve McCormack has resigned as boss of troubled Co-operative Championship club Gateshead Thunder and is being tipped to take over at Barrow.

The Scotland coach exited due to the uncertainty hanging over the north-east club, with main backer Steve Garside having announced he is to start proceedings to wind up Thunder’s holding company.

Gateshead officials are meeting with the RFL in a bid to secure the club’s future.
