Naylor laments a poor opening

OLDHAM RL coach Scott Naylor: "In the three previous Championship games this season we've prided ourselves on three things - good attitudes, big hearts, maximum efforts.

"I'm disappointed because in most of the lads here these things were missing.

"We didn't start well while Hull KR, as we expected, began with all guns blazing. At 24-0 after quarter of an hour it was all over as a contest and from our perspective it was then a matter of damage limitation.

"This was a shame because we had shown previously this season that we were no longer the team of old. Sadly, we had some flashbacks today to that former team.

"The wind was fierce and tricky, but it was the same for both sides. And the wind definitely did not cause us to lose the ruck, to be poor in contact, to lower our skill levels or to make so many mistakes, many of them unforced, in backfield.

"Our kicking game was off as well.

"I don't know why all these things went wrong at once, but on a positive note it might be useful to get them all out of the way on the same day so that, next Sunday, against Dewsbury Rams at Bower Fold we can play like we did against Sheffield, Featherstone and London."

HULL KR coach Tim Sheens: "For us, it's not about running along in the Championship winning games. It's about when we are down the track and playing Super League teams.

"We won't beat Super League teams playing like we did in the second half, we might have done so on the first half, but not the second.

"I'm happier with the nil than the 48, for sure."
