MUSIC EXTRA: THROWING yourself headlong into the anarchic tours of the Happy Mondays and Black Grape is one thing. Coming out the other side in one piece is another matter entirely.
But that is what north Manchester outfit Alias Kid has done, triumphantly emerging with a series of incendiary support slots and a burgeoning fanbase. This year looks bright for the band on its first major headline tour.
Signed by music mogul Alan McGee (Oasis, Primal Scream, Super Furry Animals) in 2013, one of the gutsiest rock’n’roll outfits to emerge from Manchester in recent years continues to show it has what it takes with a run of UK dates.
Having kicked-off in Derby, the five-piece will do 11 shows culminating in a hometown gig in Manchester at Club Academy on April 30.
Alias Kid’s Maz Behdjet said: “We went all over the place last year playing festivals, overseas shows and supporting loads of big bands. This is our first UK headline tour and the support we get around the country is amazing.”
Alias Kid are Maz (vocals, guitar), Sean O’Donnell (vocals, guitar), Nick Repton (bass), James Sweeney (lead guitar, backing vocals) and Colin Ward (drums).
