MUSIC EXTRA: WITH more than 5,000 views already on YouTube, it’s clear that talented teenage Oldham duo Lyceum conjured a winning formula with the sound and subsequent release of their track “30 Nights”.

The first song Oldhamers Brad Healey and Ryan Brogan have released, it has proved popular beyond expectation and has helped give the pair a boost at the start of a fun-packed 2016.

Clearly delighted with the track, which has been beefed up slightly thanks to some additional backing and a brilliant accompanying video, Brogan said: “‘30 Nights’ is one of the first songs we wrote and it was always the first one we wanted to put out.

“It’s quite a lively one, and we’ve got Jack from Cruel Kingdom on it with us doing some drumming.”

Recorded over a number of sessions at the Castle Rock Studios in Alderley Edge, “30 Nights” was one of four tunes Lyceum recorded. The second track, “This”, should be released around Valentine’s Day.

Brogan added: “‘This’ is a bit more of a lovey-dovey song so that’s the reason for the Valentine’s Day release. The other two songs will be released over the next couple of months.

“We are trying to get into Manchester more, certainly they’re the gigs we’re trying to push more because more people can see us there. We’ve got to finish our A-levels this year, but once that’s done we’ll have a lot of free time and then it’ll be about writing and recording.”

Lyceum have got plenty of gigs coming up, including a couple in Manchester at the Kohtao venue in February alongside Cruel Kingdom and at Factory 251 on March 19.
