MUSIC EXTRA: HOT on the heels of my trip to watch the mighty Inspiral Carpets round off their tour at the O2 Academy in Leeds, I’ll be heading across the Pennines to the same venue again this Saturday for the final of the SoundWaves competition, featuring Oldham’s very own Ok Broken.
Gaz, Dave, Phil and Adam have reached the nationwide final showcase, which gets under way at 6pm.
A raft of the north’s most talented upcoming unsigned acts and artists will battle it out to win the ultimate recording and exposure package. Good luck lads!
AS promised, Louie Louie are gearing up for a hectic new year of gigging. Ahead of planned single release, Rita, Paul, Pedro and Tom play the University of Huddersfield on January 21, the Scruff of the Neck Records’ New Sonic Club night at Manchester’s Royal Oak on January 29, Gulliver’s in Manchester on February 26, and the Night and Day Cafe in the city on March 4.
TOWN favourites Cupids have released another track, which can be heard by visiting the band’s Facebook page abd clicking the link.
Entitled “365”, the track is a terrific, uplifting and upbeat number.
THERE are still tickets for Shadow Palace’s first major gig at Gulliver’s in Manchester this Friday. The exciting new Oldham outfit play chief support to The Small Prints.
ROCK out at Whittles in Oldham again this weekend with two cracking gigs, both free admission. Friday sees Liverpool outfit Morocco, and on Saturday heavy rock cover specialists Black Rising are on stage.
