MARC Klok is hoping to have his short-term contract extended by Athletic.

The Dutch midfielder, who signed in mid-July after leaving Bulgarian outfit Cherno More, has featured regularly so far this term and hopes to have made enough of an impression to stay on.

"From my point of view I am really happy at Oldham so I'm quite positive we can get there and hope I can stay longer at this fantastic club," said Klok, whose current six-month deal runs out in January.

As for the team's fortunes as a whole, ex-Ross County man Klok (23) feels that better results lie just around the corner.

'SPIRIT'

"It hasn't gone great yet," he admitted. "We have drawn a few, but we want to win games.

"The team spirit is there if not the results, but it gives us a good base to work from to improve that soon.

"We have a solid side and the defensive aspect is quite strong. When the manager came in, he said we had to build from a strong defence.

"We have created chances without scoring but it will come. We have a very strong team and will start to climb up the table."
