Flynn: We can win any game

RYAN Flynn believes Athletic are coming together quickly in spite of an unforgiving start to the new season.

One of a host of new players brought to the club by Stephen Robinson, former Sheffield United man Flynn was a scorer and creator in the 2-1 home win over Wigan in the EFL Cup and came close to breaking the deadlock against Walsall.

The 27-year-old has been a bright spark going forward and tonight, as Athletic tackle Northampton, he wants a sprinkling of invention in the final third that will hopefully lead to Athletic getting off the goals mark in the league this season.

"It will be another tough game and completely different to Walsall, who like to get the ball down and play," said Flynn.

"Every game is winnable and we showed that against Championship opposition here.

"If we can get that bit of magic going up top to get the goal then we will be pleased."

Tonight's clash is the first of the season that doesn't pit Athletic against a side that finished in the top six of League One last term, though Northampton were impressive in claiming the League Two crown.

"What the gaffer has preached is what we are trying to do, and though it was disappointing in the first game of the season, against Wigan it was a really good performance and against Walsall it was everything but the goal I felt we deserved," Flynn added.
