LIAM KELLY . . . Athletic boss John Sheridan will want to keep hold of the midfield man after another fine season
LIAM Kelly is the Chronicle’s Star Man for 2015-16.
Athletic’s captain (pictured) claimed seven individual man-of-the-match nominations across the course of a season in which the midfielder has stood out as a model of consistency.
It left him three clear of his nearest Star Man challengers, last year’s winner Mike Jones — this week released by the club — and Burton midfielder Matt Palmer, who had a major impact while on loan and working under manager John Sheridan.
SIGNED
Kelly (26), who is now playing under his fifth manager since being signed by Lee Johnson from Bristol City, picks up a £600 prize to donate to a charity of his choosing, thanks to sponsors Indish Bar, Restaurant and Grill.
Only James Wilson (47) turned out in more games for Athletic thank Kelly (44).
That’s despite the midfielder picking up a knee injury that required surgery back
in August.
