JOHN Sheridan was pleased with his team’s battling qualities, but less so with some of the decision-making, as Athletic earned a 1-1 draw at Fleetwood:

“We definitely deserved something out of the game and in the second half we improved. I will take the point.

“There were some silly errors, with balls going under players’ feet and mis-headers and it drives me absolutely mad. Making those little decisions can be really effective in the game, or they can cost you.

“There was willingness and desire to get something out of the game and Liam Kelly was outstanding again, driving us on.

“We were the better team in the second half and I am really disappointed with their goal.

“Our fans were brilliant, with the noise they made and getting behind the team.

“The equaliser was fully deserved and we were the team you would think could go on and win it.

GROUND

“I thought it wasn’t a bad game, with two teams who didn’t want to lose ground on each other. We both wanted three points, but there is no real change in where the teams are in the table.”

Fleetwood’s manager Steven Pressley believed his team were worthy of a victory:

“I am disappointed we didn’t win the game. With the exception of a 10-minute period after we scored, where I didn’t feel we managed the game properly, I never felt we were in danger.

“They are always a threat from set plays and being quite a physical side they put you under pressure from those moments, but in general play we were in control.

“In the first half-hour we had a number of really of good chances and their goalkeeper made a number of good saves.

“We were fortunate in that it could have been a penalty. It looked from where I was it was a penalty and they will be disappointed not to get one.”
