Sheridan: It’s all about points

ATHLETIC boss John Sheridan insists Blackpool will give nothing away in tonight’s crucial showdown between the relegation-threatened pair.

Curtis Main will start up front and Liam Kelly will be recalled in midfield against opponents on a rotten run - without a win in seven games and only a point ahead of Oldham.

Only a third league win of the season would hand Sheridan’s men a massive boost in the quest to beat the drop, ahead of another important home game against Rochdale on Saturday. A three-goal margin of victory would even push Athletic out of the bottom four.

But Sheridan expects a close game against a side desperate not to lose: “They will make it difficult for us,” he said.

“It doesn’t matter who plays who in this league, they are all difficult games. They will come here thinking they can gain an advantage – exactly the same as we do. It’s not really about performances; it’s about getting three points.

“We both find ourselves in the bottom four and one of us will want to get out of it. Hopefully, that will be us.”
