Athletic forward Jake Cassidy not featured much

ANOTHER striker could be brought in by Athletic to add firepower to a side that has struggled for goals all season.

But manager John Sheridan will need to let a fringe player leave the club first. Forward duo Aaron Amadi-Holloway and Curtis Main have yet to find the net for the club since joining on loan.

And after Daniel Lafferty returned to Burnley, Sheridan is targeting a fifth loan signing who might offer something different.

Strikers Jake Cassidy and Rhys Murphy haven’t featured much recently and may be candidates for emergency loan elsewhere, as Athletic’s boss hunts down a player to add pace.

“There are one or two clubs inquiring about our players,” Sheridan said, confirming he is trying to complete deals before tomorrow. I’d never stand in anyone’s way for the opportunity to play football.

“I would need to replace one. If something happens with one of our players, I would like to get someone in before the game.

“We need goals, but then Aaron could have had three and Curtis a couple: It hasn’t gone their way.

“We all know that we haven’t scored enough goals. With all the games coming up and with Dom out, I need someone who will stretch defences with pace.”
