No slacking now, says Shez

THREE WINS in five outings may have given Athletic a new lease of life but there is still room for improvement says manager John Sheridan.

A third straight win at Scunthorpe on Saturday could lift the club out of the bottom four for the first time since November.

But even though Oldham players are performing well at the moment, Sheridan will continue to seek improvement, particularly concerning possession in attacking areas.

“I still get agitated at times - which I’m sure people will see when I’m on the touch line,” said Sheridan, whose side heads to Glanford Park on the back of a 2-1 win at Peterborough.

“If we are going to be a good team then we can’t give the ball away cheaply in good positions as we do sometimes. Do that against good sides and you can get punished.

“They are all going to be difficult games from here, but we are playing with a bit of confidence and there is nothing better for confidence than winning. It’s just got to continue. There is no way they will get carried away with me here — no chance.”

Athletic will continue to assess Aaron Amadi-Holloway’s ankle injury, suffered late in the London Road game, a game Mike Jones missed through injury. Also absent on Tuesday were Rhys Murphy and Joseph Mills. Goal scorer Cameron Dummigan played on through the pain at Peterborough and Curtis Main lasted just over an hour before being replaced by Jonathan Forte.
