Beware of hurt Posh

PETERBOROUGH have suffered heavy league defeats ahead of tonight’s London Road clash against Athletic — but visiting boss John Sheridan won’t be taking the game lightly.
Under Graham Westley, Posh had been going well until two hard-fought FA Cup fourth-round games against Premier League side West Brom. They eventually lost to the Baggies in heartbreaking fashion on penalties at London Road, and have slumped since in the league..
Despite the apparent Posh wobble, Sheridan knows his team — which could still see changes tonight despite Saturday’s terrific victory against high-flying Gillingham — will be up against it.
“Peterborough are a good team,” said Athletic manager Sheridan. “They should have beaten West Brom and they have had a decent season overall.
“It’s going to be a tough game. If we’re not prepared, we will get beat, but we will be full of confidence and will go there thinking we’re going to win the game.
“They’ve got a nice pitch and I do have to change my thinking a bit for away games, but I’m not frightened of making team changes.
“I left out Carl Winchester on Saturday, purely because of the way I wanted to go about that particular game. He took it well because his attitude is spot-on, and now he’s got a good chance of playing tonight.
“But I’m not frightened of changing a winning said.”
As far as Posh themselves are concerned, they have been hit by injuries and a crucial suspension as they gear up for tonight’s match.
Centre-back Michael Bostwick picked up a 10th booking of the campaign at Millwall, so he will start a two-game ban.
