WHAT A CHANCE . . . new signing Curtis Main puts his late header from close range over the crossbar.
FRUSTRATION was the overriding emotion felt by Athletic manager John Sheridan as the side left Blackpool with another 0-0 draw
Debut loan striker Curtis Main had the visitors' best chance at Bloomfield Road, heading over when latching on to a rebound of a Daniel Lafferty effort saved by keeper Dean Lyness.
“I am really disappointed again that we haven't ended up with three points,” said Sheridan, who has now gained five points from his five games back with the club.
“It is hard to take. The lads are down and I am down. We deserved to win the game and you could see we tried to win it.
“I said to the players - looking at the games I’ve been involved in - ‘how the hell are you in the bottom four?’ In the performances they have shown me they should be around the top eight.
“I never felt in any danger at all until maybe the last five minutes. It is very disappointing. We played really well - again.”
Sheridan has seen his men score only once in the last five games, but believes better results are due, ahead of the visit of Gillingham on Saturday.
“I have to stay positive, as the performances are really good and we just have to keep the way we have been playing and take it into the game on Saturday.
“I am not frightened of making changes to the team or the system, if I feel it will give us the win and the goals we are after.”
ATHLETIC'S rearranged game at Barnsley, postponed due to the host club's involvement in the Johnstone's Paint Trophy final, will now be at Oakwell on April 12.
