THE NIGHT out we had this week with the Boundary Blues fans’ club was really enjoyable — though plenty of the lads were very competitive at ten pin bowling!

But no more so than manager David Dunn and first-team coach Keith Brown. They are always trying to outdo each other!

Plenty of players were into the 100s in terms of scores. I was on a lane with Jack Truelove and though I am not sure how things finished, I know I beat him. That’s what mattered!.

Not as important, of course, as making it an occasion for the youngsters to enjoy. I know that growing up as a football fan myself how much I would have appreciated the chance to get involved in a night like that, so hopefully they all had a good evening, too.

We found out the FA Cup draw on the same evening and as it turned out, had we won at Sheffield United we would be going to play Manchester United at Old Trafford. That would have been brilliant - another in a list of fantastic FA Cup experiences I’ve had here. But it wasn’t to be

Now we have to focus on the league, starting with Millwall tomorrow. I’ve been back training this week, though I am not sure if I will be part of the match-day squad.

For sure it will be a tough game. They have had a decent start to the season and will come to us as a solid and quite direct side. We know we need to turn round our home form and it is simply down to the players to go out there and do that. We do need to start getting positive results.
