Latics make pay pledge

ATHLETIC’S players and staff were expecting to pick up their pay packets today following a meeting to explain the situation over unpaid wages.

The Chronicle revealed yesterday how the squad was told before the Crewe game they would not receive their November pay, as expected, last Friday. Cash-flow problems meant wages weren’t paid on Monday — the final day of the month.

It is understood to be the third month running that pay hasn’t been forthcoming as expected. No official comment has been issued by the club.

Chairman Simon Corney told the BBC yesterday: “There is nothing to say other than players will be paid tomorrow.”

A statement from fans group Trust Oldham read: “The news that the wages have been delayed is obviously disappointing, more than anyone for the staff and players involved.

“The club has assured us this is a temporary cash flow situation and should be resolved within the next 48 hours.”

This is a far from unique situation for Athletic, who continue to battle financially against low revenues and with the new North Stand still incomplete.

Back in 2011, then-manager Paul Dickov told players they would have to wait to be paid for the second month in a row.

Meanwhile, on the player front, Dunn is hoping to land the services of Cameron Dummigan for a third month on loan. The Burnley right-back, missing from the last two games with a groin strain, has been impressive during his time at the club.
