Brilliant to have Cassidy back

THE ankle injury I suffered at Mansfield in the FA Cup is healing well and I’m hoping to be back in full training some time next week.

I’m getting there. I’ve started to run in straight lines again now so as long as there is no further reaction I should be back in contention soon.

Obviously the mood hasn’t been great in the camp this week.

All the lads were disappointed with the result on Tuesday against Southend, but such is the beauty of football, we only need to wait a few days before getting a chance to bounce back with a good result at Crewe.

They’ve been struggling all season and so it gives us a perfect opportunity to go there and pick up a good result which will help erase the memories of Southend.

Latics have got a decent record at Crewe in recent seasons, so let’s hope that continues tomorrow.

The fans will be turning out in their numbers once again, so every player out there on the pitch will be busting a gut for them.

It’s been great to see Jake Cassidy back on the training pitch this week.

He has most definitely been missed this last few months. He’s a quality striker.

He had got himself off to a terrific start here and then that bad ankle injury set him back.

I know he was gutted about it at the time, but he’s been flying this week and it’s brilliant to have him back.

He’s got a chance to kick on in his career now.

If he can stay injury-free, he can turn into a massive player for us this season. He’s enjoying himself again now. All the lads can see that.
