TEENAGE SENSATION . . . Cameron Dummigan has earned plenty of plaudits for his performances at right-back since joining Athletic on loan from Championship side Burnley.
IMPRESSIVE right-back Cameron Dummigan is poised to stay on with Athletic beyond tomorrow, as talks continue between manager David Dunn and other loan stars’ clubs.
Nineteen-year-old Burnley prospect Dummigan has been a shining light in Dunn’s reshaped side, offering a real threat going forward.
Tomorrow’s home clash with Burton is the last game in Dummigan’s initial one-month stint with Athletic. His club-mate Daniel Lafferty has returned to Turf Moor with a shoulder injury.
Dunn has already stated his intent to keep Northern Ireland under-21 ace Dummigan at the club beyond the weekend.
And it is thought that the chances of doing so have improved of late.
While Athletic’s manager didn’t go into individual circumstances, he said that discussions over his group of loan stars — which also comprises Jay Fulton, Jonathan Burn, Michael Higdon and the injured Eoghan O’Connell — have already taken place with their parent clubs.
With other Dunn signings Richard Eckersley and Ricardo Fuller on short-term deals, as is Mark Yeates, there is plenty for Dunn to ponder over the coming weeks.
As it stands, he is happy with the way the men he has brought in have had an influence in the squad during a sturdy managerial stint that has brought only one defeat in eight outings.
“We are already planning and have asked the question on most of them,” Dunn said, referring to the loan men.
“As you can imagine, the clubs are monitoring it every single week — how many minutes they are
getting.
“We are dictated to by the parent clubs so we will keep going. The signings have been really good and I’ve been very pleased with them.”
