Higdon sits it out

TARGET man Michael Higdon may stay at home this weekend to avoid a conflict of interest — but he is more than happy to be getting a taste of regular action with his current club.

The Sheffield United striker (32) has scored two goals in four games for Athletic. But the loan man isn’t allowed to play on Saturday against his primary employer - unlike away-trip room-mate and

forward partner, Dominic Poleon. That pair have struck up a rapport and the former Crewe and Motherwell man is glad to be on board.

“I’m here at Oldham and concentrating on doing well,” said Higdon, whose league action for the Blades this season had been restricted to two 89th-minute appearances.

“I had a difficult time at Sheffield in terms of injuries and it didn’t go as well as I wanted. There are a lot of quality players there and the squad is really big. At my age, I need to be playing.”
